Guest guest
Hi, I and two of our children have had surgery with the TCI gang and they were very good at having our pain managed. They have pain managemnet people as well as the PA's that do nothing but ACM/TCS recoveries. I had a bit of a time getting the right meds but not long and when they found the right dose and type I had little pain. My children had very little pain from the git-go as it was in peds. and those nurses were all over the pain, making sure it went AWAY! in WA > > Hello everyone > I know this has come up before, but I wasnt really > paying attention then. Guest guest
hello! tci is really good at the pain meds-they have been for me! i also have gone to get surgeries there where i was on high doses or morphine-so they had to give me higher doses of morphine after surgery-and if that didnt work they gave me a different medication-i think it starts w/ a " d " but is not demerol bc i think demerol is below morphine. anyway, so they do a very good job handling your pain. you just have to wait for them to give it to you-which is a pain. they do ask you what you are on when you go for pre-surgical testing so they are aware of what doses of things you will need for your stay. so they should be aware of the high doses of pain meds you are on. i wouldnt worry about that too much. but like i said, when you are in pain afterwards & you are still hurting & you need more, they will give you more. sometimes, they give you what they think you will need but i guess it is a guessing game-you never really know. now, when you leave they give you enough for a few weeks-a month of whatever you were on. you then have to go to your own pain doctor & they will take over your pain management. good luck!! i hope this helps. hugs, shannon 26, east stroudsburg, pa apr '01 decompression in philly feb '03 revision of decomp & fusion to c4 (done in same surgery) @ TCI jul '03 vp shunt placed @ TCI jan '05 shunt valve replaced @ TCI 1/31/07 fusion revision down to c6 > > Hello everyone > I know this has come up before, but I wasnt really > paying attention then.
