BED has a yahoo message board. If you are thinking of trying it, you should read the files. The members are very helpful. The nice thing about BED is it's not an all or nothing diet. You can incorporate portions of it into your diet. Some, but not all of it, is compatible w/SCD.

My understanding is that SCD is more targeted at eliminating bad

bacteria & stool problems, while BED is more targeted to yeast. But

SCD can be modified (drop the honey, fewer fruits) to attack both.

We have tried both BED and SCD for my severely gut-affected kid. Both

were difficult due to his very severe food allergies. We chose BED

first in an effort to hang onto some grains (quinoa, buckwheat,

millet), which were a big source of calories for him. We also wanted

to get a lot of probiotic foods into him. But we ended up doing some

damage by over-doing the cultured veggies. We created acidosis in his

gut, which is a very serious condition. I don't think the BED people

are aware this is a risk from the diet. We caught it in an OAT test.

His gut continued to be inflamed and his yeast got worse on the BED

diet.

We switched to SCD, which for my son had to be milk-free, egg-free,

nut-free, coconut-free, fruit-free. He eats ONLY a few vegetables and

meats and oils. It's not much of a diet, but he has gotten remarkably

better. We also have been doing heavy-duty rotating antifungal

protocol, so it's hard to say what helped most, but I don't think the

antifungals would have been sufficient without the diet. Within 4

months his inflammation and yeast went to ZERO. His cognition and

language skyrocketed. He has had some problems with undigested stools

on the diet, which we have treated with enzymes, and we also saw

cognitive improvements with that.

If you do SCD, realize that you don't have to eat all the foods

prescribed on the diet - you can exclude any foods your kid doesn't

tolerate, like milk, nuts, etc. The important thing is to not INCLUDE

things that aren't SCD legal, the polysaccharides and disaccharides

(complex sugars and starches). These are the foods that feed yeast.

There is a lot of misinformation about what's a true SCD diet. YOu

need to read the book - Breaking The Vicious Cycle - and visit the

Pecanbread Yahoo group, especially when starting the diet.

They have a website. Just google Body Ecology Diet. BED stresses fermented foods like cultured veggies and coconut kefir. Due to my child's phenol issues, true BED wasn't an option for us. We tried the coconut kefir but he definitely reacted negativerly to the coconut water. We have incorporated some of the BED principles but are closer to SCD, but absolutely no honey for us.
