RE: Pain medications for Chiari and associated syndromes methadone for pain

I refuse to take methadone... I tried it once when my then neuro thought I

was on too much oxy he wanted to try this drug and see if it would help

me... yeah no way ... I tried it and well, it did absolutely NOTHING for the

pain... methadone is used to get people off of heroin and other narcotics...

I know it is used a pain relief drug but fro me it did not work... I will

take my 80mg of oxy a day thanks... I see a pain management specialist now

and we are talking about doing surgery to implant a computerized medicine

delivery system since pills are killing ym stomach... I would welcome this

as then I would not have to worry about taking anything and it would be much

gentler on ym stomach or lack of one lol... not to mention the pain relief

drugs are stroinger and work better that way and you dont have to take as

much of them at least not until you start gettign used to them and ahve to

increas the dosage... I told the doc that when it became apparent that 80mg

of oxy a day want going to cut it, then we needed to do something else... I

dont want to go to 20mg 5times a day... right now he has me on 20mg every

4-6 hours... and I take it at least 4 times a day... sometimes I can get

away with taking an initial 20mg then 10 mg every 40 hours... and other days

I mneed the extra 20 it jsut depends on the day and the pain threshold I

cross... last night I coudlnt sleep at all becasue I hurt so bad... I would

get comfortable then pain would make me have to move and I wouldn't get into

REM sleep... then when i DID get into REM sleep i had the strangest

nightmare... I dreamt about a Ginormous snake that was eating people at a

philharmoic concert... it was just horrible... the thing came to eat me and

i grabbed my trombone pulled teh cover opff teh slide and rammed the slide

end of teh instrument into the monster's head... and then people were

crawling out fo teh snakes mouth... it was a horrible dream... I don;t knwo

what would make me dream such a thing... i havent seen any images of snakes

lately... and I haven't touched my trombone or my trumpet in a very very

long time... too much pain medication??? lol... who knows...

For one it may not work with you but it does work for others . Methadone

was a life saver for me, but in the long run it started making my legs

swell . I am allergic to Lasix and Bumex so dr. said we needed to get

off the Methadone. But its a excellant Pain reliver for some . I am now

taking Tramadol 100 mg 4 times a day and it works well . But I am going

to talk to PM about the Methadone again . I am not keen on narcotics but

hey if it works us it.
