Guest guest
My best friend, who used to room with us, is always jabbering about how she misses my cooking. So, I'd told her I'd make her lunch for our Christmas get-together. Her two favorite dishes I make are Meatballs in Cheese Gravy w/Mashed Potatoes, and Lasagne...she's been leaning toward the meatballs (a recipe passed down from my paternal Grandmother, though we all know it by heart.) Yesterday mornng she said " Lasagne! " . I haven't made one in YEARS, so tonight I did. This thing is the MOTHER of lasagnes! My hands are not doing so great so Em helped with opening cans and ziplock packets. I did all the cooking and assmbling. I'll bake it for lunch tomorrow. I'm not kidding you, it hurt my hands and my back just to pick it up! I just hope it tastes good. I think we'll be eating lasagne for a week. So, tomorrow we are having lunch & watching videos, and jabbering of course. My shoulders and neck-bump are swollen and painful, so I think I'll ask for a massage there, which she is really good at. It'll be nice to catch up...I do miss seeing her. Then tomorrow evening I'm baking Judi's famous GrapeNut muffins. Em & I both really like muffins. Lest you get worried, I am doing better with food, still writing in my journal, and doing range of motion and strengthening exercises. Plus deep breathing exercises, and exercises to tighten my neck/throat...both suggested in pre-op. Thanks for listening to my yackey-yack. I'm not ready for sleep even though I'm tired. Oh, I did switch from elavil to trazadone for sleep as my rheummy says elavil is too drying and he doesn't want anything to worsen the mouth/throat dryness, because of the Sjorgren's. So far, so good. Sweet Dreams & Many Hugs... Tess
Guest guest
Enjoy your special treat and your friend. She will appreciate all the effort you took to prepare her favorite meal. It sounds scrumptious. I hope cyber smelling becomes a reality one day. Lasagna freezes very well so if you have a lot left over you can cut it into meal size portions and freeze it for the bad days when you can¹t cook. I¹m really proud of all the hard work you are doing with your diet and exercises Tess. If you keep it up it will become a way of life and will be much easier. In your one post I¹ve been meaning to answer, you said you were eating more fruits and veggies and don¹t know why you don¹t do it since you like them. I was the same way. I love fruit but ate a piece once or twice a week. Veggies I had more often, but nowhere near the 5 servings they recommend and most of them were highly processed. Now that I am eating 5 servings of fruits and veggies every day it has become a way of life. I hope everyone makes a conscious effort to increase their fruit and veggie intake. They are loaded with all the essential elements that we need to help repair the damage of RA. Enjoy your day tomorrow my friend. I hope you get that neck massage! a > My best friend, who used to room with us, is always jabbering about how > she misses my cooking.
