Guest guest
Hello, My son who is 3 years old is having decompression surgery at Riley Children's Hospital in Feb. The Dr. said that he will be going in on Friday AM and should probably be released on Monday if all goes well. Monday sounds too soon to us. My husband and I are wondering what to expect from the little guy after surgery. He is in speech articulation group and can't talk the best. Is recovery quicker for chilrden? How long should I expect him to be out of preschool? I just want him to be able to recoop as soon as possible. The Dr will also do a full lumbar MRI the AM of the surgery to see if he has a tetheared cord and if so she'll do that at the time of the decompression, so I imagine that would mean a longer period of down time. I plan on asking the Dr these questions, but I'd like to hear about experiences. Also, sorry so many questions, Should we and how soon would we see improvement in speech, cognitive and motor skills? Thanks so much in advance for the replys. and
