Guest guest
My name is Chad. I live in Oregon. I am 33 years old. My girlfriends name is Beth and I have a 10 year old son. I am experiencing serious symptoms, loss of bladder control, Frequent urinating, Periodic numbness in the left side of my face, Dizziness, severe insomnia, Pains behind eyes, shaking/tremors in my entire body, and pains, tingling, numbness and weakness in my legs, feet, arms, and hands. I was recently diagnosed with a syrinx (3mm wide and 7mm long) in my spinal cord at the C6/7 level and a disc bulge at the C5/6 level directly above my SM. After watching Dr. Bolognese's videos it is my understanding that trauma can cause the SM especially if the trauma is above the SM. My doctor's here in Portland also suspect my bulged C5/6 disc may be the cause of the syrinx. I want to get a syrinx expert to give me his thoughts on this scenario. I may need a fusion on my C6/7 to eliminate my bulged disc from pushing against my thecal sac. Has anyone had a fusion like this or had a SM appear due to trauma? I have been asked by several people on another yahoo board for Chiari/SM if I have tethered cord. After looking up the symptoms for this I realize that I have all of them with the exception of one symptom. I am now wondering if this was missed by my NL and if I could have tethered cord. Does anyone know of any SM specialists who can help me? I have sent out communications to Dr. Oro in Colorado and Dr. Ellenbogen in Seattle and am still waiting to hear back from them. I am also in the works of trying to get into TCI in NY. Due to my serious symptoms I'm hoping to talk to an SM expert very soon. I feel my symptoms are worsening on a daily basis. My immediate goal is to find a qualified NS in the area of syrinx so we can treat the underlying cause of my syrinx. Hoping to hear from Dr. Oro, TCI, and Dr. Ellenbogen soon. If anyone has information that may help me and my family get through this we'd greatly appreciate it. Warm regards, Chad and Beth
