Guest guest
Oh, I'm so going to pay a dear price for being at the computer as much as I have today. The nausea was very bothersome for me, I really had no appetite, which the nurses weren't happy about, but, so it goes... One thing, since I was in NY alone, I hired private duty RNs through Professional Placement -- the RNs and NAs that work with them are mostly staff employees of the hospital and are very familiar with the surgeries and procedures for Chiari patients. The private duty RNs I had in the hospital were absolutely wonderful -- I do not have an ill word to say about any one of them. Plus, they would look in on Virginia for me and keep me updated as to how she was. And even though I had private duty RNs, the floor nurses would still look in on me and make sure everything was fine -- and they all know each other besides. I was to be released on that Monday, the 26th, but wasn't due to the nausea thing, but they switched me to pill form nausea meds and I did just fine, so was released on that Tuesday, as was Virginia. So Virginia and I shared a taxi cab back to the Floral Park. By then a friend of Virginia's had arrived in NY to be with her and fly back home with her and my mother-in-law had arrived to be with me and fly back with me. I really can't stress enough the importance of getting up and walking and sitting in a chair to eat -- I really didn't do either of these and I didn't feel as good as I could have if I had forced myself to get up and about and walk and sit in a chair to eat -- but, wasn't hungry for one thing. Once I was back at the motel my mother-in-law made sure I was walking on a schedule and I even had my appetite come back somewhat. Part 6 coming up.
