Guest guest
I had my surgery for " Chiari " in 1974 at age 17 I have never doubted that I made the right choice I have had limitations as I was told I would by my Neurosurgeon. It took me about two months to realize the surgery was very successful the severe headaches, dizziness and other chiari symptoms were much better. . I did have changes in my life no more sports I was also limited in lifting things that were very heavy but I now know I've lifted things I shouldn't. I was not aware of this thing called " Chiari " until May of 2006. In the last several years I've had many problems that are Chiari related and have had to adjust my life style once more. These Great Chiari Groups have many great people who share there personal experiences with Chiari they have all helped me understand my life with Chiari I have " Thanked " them many times. I do not have any regrets about my surgery and I still think surgery was my only option in 1974. THANK YOU GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR PERSONAL DECISION (Indiana) Chiari Surgery 1974 (age 17) : Suboccipital Craniectomy :Laminectomy of C1 and C2 : Removal of Scarred Cerebellar Tonsils wide Graft of area done with Paraspinous Muscle Tissue. It was Also assumed I had a Syrinx but of course there were no MRI's then so the status of the spinal cord was unknown. My Chiari was found with a test called a " Pneumoencephalogram " it was a rough test (Not done much anymore) I do think this Surgery was very successful and Definately Neccessary --------------------------------- Looking for last minute shopping deals?
