Guest guest
The moment of decision, for me, was not that magical. I knew it becuase a lot of factors came into play, the most of which was that the surgeons knew exactly what was wrong, where it was, and it fit with experiences of my body and pain. I had a lot of trust in them and that they were the right ones for me. I wavered a little, even up to the day of surgery. Luckily, or unluckily, I woke up that morning with a killer migraine and becuase of the no food or meds rule before surgery, I was in agony. I would have let anyone in the hallway with a plastic knife cut me open, I was so miserable. But, I also focused on the outcome, how much better my life would be 6 months later, not on the immediate pain of the surgery. I had been in pain for a long time, first problems showed up at age 9 and I was in my 40's before I got the correct diagnosis, so I was done with it all, with all the " atlernatives " that did not work, with broken promises, and the daily struggle just to get through the day. Its a tough decision, but don't turn your back on it becuase you find yourself wavering. Get the amount of data or assurance you need to go forward, or to wait. Ultimately, its your choice.
