Hi, everybody! This is a poem I wrote a few years ago. I delivered

the poem (along with home-made chocolate brains) to my neighbors and

my doctors as part of one of my fundraising drives for Chiari

research. It is amazing what a big motivator a little bit of

chocolate is for getting people to donate to a cause...give it a try

for yourself!

A Wish For St. Valentines' Day

T'was the 14th of February

and all through the world,

celebrants of the heart were merry

while tiny cupid wings unfurled.

Embraced by generations past

and many future ones yet to behold,

the day we revere all things cardiac

with gifts of chocolate, roses and gold.

Yet never have we paid homage

in our annual passage of three-sixty-five,

to the core of our being

the very thing that keeps us alive.

For the heart cannot beat

with a rhythm steady and true,

nor race and stay on track

without the command of you-know-who.

Thus my wish for this day

when Saint Valentine doth reign,

would be for everyone far and wide,

to give proper praise to the brain.

So, hear ye, hear ye…

February 15, 2008 shall be deemed,

the official day when all things cerebral

shall be held higher than all organs esteemed.

Use your noggin, your noodle

Or whatever " model " you were hence born equipped,

And help raise vital awareness and research

for those whose hindbrain areas have/will be zipped!

((((Happy Heart and Blessed Brain HUGS))))
