Guest guest
This is what mine reads Pacemaker. Hydrocephalus shunt. Arnold chiari. Call medic alert. then my number. I am fused to C6 but there was not room to put do not hyperextend neck and if it is an emergency the paramedics are going to do what is needed to get me breathing anyways. I talked to the medic alert people and we agreed it was more important to list the pacemaker and shunt. They can find out about the fusion when they call, if i am unable to speak for myself. The metal bracelet you get free with your membership is nice, but they never fit me. My first one was too big, so i bought a new purple one that was a size smaller and it was too small. I took it to the jewelry counter at work and had them take links from one to mke the other big enough. IT still got scratched up all the time at work. Then before surgery at TCI i had given it to my mom, she forgot it was in her pocket, and washed her jeans and it broke it. So i decided to try the sports band, I like it much better. It is a heavier emblem, and does not have that clear coat so it doesnt get scratched up. I can adjust it, and dont have to worry about the chain getting hung up on the steel in the backroom at work. When it gets dirty i either rub soap on it, rinse it and let it dry, or use a tide pen. I had a yellow one with flowers, but i throw so much freight at work, my arms are always covered in dirt when i get home, so the yellow one showed dirt too much. I got a purple one and love it it's dark and works great. Teens like them too because they are more sportier. Anyways there is my Medic Alert spill. I've been a member for 4 years and am very happy with them, medical alert what to put on it for people who have had a CCF What have any of you put on your Medical Alert Bracelets that have had a CCF ? Any advice would be great. Guest guest
Just my two cents ... First, medic alert bracelets are for first responders who are there to keep you alive and breathing. Second, they are for emergency room and hospitals to know to make a call to get more detials. First responders need to know fast facts, like do's and don'ts, they don't have time to translate or do research. Most won't know that " arnold Chiari " is and they probably don't make phone calls to find out what it is, so use the space for critical life saving information. They don't have time, they are concerned about keeping you alive and doing no harm. You could put something like: " Do not hyperextend neck, fused to C6. Pacemaker. Hydrocephalus shunt. " I think that even leaves room for more info. I have some non-chiari problems that are bizarre and cause me to respond in ways that a first responder might misunderstand, so instead of confusing them with condition names and details, we just reduced my bracelet to a few don'ts. In the emergency room or hospital the docs can make calls to understand the details better. I worked out the wording on my bracelet with someone on the medic alert phone, and we got a lot on there, starting with " do not hyperextend neck or apply pressure to neck " then the rest. Guest guest
Well what i did was order dog tags from a place online, they have a special dog tag with the medical alert symbol on it. So with the dog tags i have personal info, and the medical aleart has some don'ts but with the normal dog tags it has my husband cell phone number, my blood type and so on, so they do not have to worry about it, it is there and ready to use with a first responder or dr. and both told me that is what i should do, gives the medical people what they need to know and fast, no searching through a wallet or anything for information. Just what i did.. Carin. Re: medical alert what to put on it for people who have had a CCF Just my two cents ...
