I believe that although the Law given to Israel is no longer in force

-it was "nailed to the stake"

with the exceptions mentioned in Acts 15 -blood etc.(as you pointed

out) -there are some good

principles there that are good to take note of.

Although pork is allowed as food for Christians -I think it is best

avoided (difficult to digest)

The laws of Natural hygene are based on the Pentateuch and i remember

reading that following these , saved a mostly Jewish town during the

Plague, that is until a nearby town accused them of poisoning the water

supply of all the other towns and then massacred them!

If we all ate and drank what Adam and eve were given -then I feel

certain most of our dis -ease

would disappear.

It was a custom, not a command. The Israelites

refrained from eating "the sinew of the thigh nerve" because when their

forefather grappled with an angel (Genesis 32:32) the angel

dislocated 's thigh joint. In memory of that occasion, or out of

respect for God's providence to ancient Israel and 's memorable

experience, perhaps, some Jews still remove the sciatic nerve,

arteries and tendons as a reminder of the event, like their

forefathers. Moses added the explanation about the sons of Israel not

eating it when he wrote up the account.

It was nothing to do with health or other laws.

It was the night before and his family met up

with Esau, and wouldn't let go of the angel until he was given a

blessing.

The only prohibition, apart from "unclean" animals,

was on eating the blood and the fat, which belonged to God (Leviticus

Ch 7 and Ch 17) and was sprinkled around the altar (blood) or burnt

on it (fat). The fat rule was only given to the Israelites; the blood

rule was given to Noah (Gen 9), the Israelites, and the Christians

(Acts 5).

Well spotted, Kim.
