treating Hashimotos to reduce antibodies: gluten and yersinia

Becky-Is this a common treatment plan?: " T hormone, eating gluten-free, supplementing with selenium " . To eat gluten-free seems rather daunting... does one need to be absolutely faithful to it, for it to work?

I was tested with very high antibodies. I was taking 100 mcg for a while, now my symptoms took a big dip (for about 2 weeks), so i have started taking 125 mcg (for a week now) and i feel much better. (I feel better the exact day i change my dosage usually - is anyone else that sensitive?)

If i go to the doctor - which is a little tricky due to insurance issues- i want to be able to ask him about gluten intolerance issues... but i want to know a little more before i ask, because he may not know and although i think he would order a test for me, the more i know the less chance he'll try to talk me out of it.

So, is " curing " hashimoto's - or managing it beyond just taking more T hormone a possibility? I live in on the Aegean - which is where the study was done about the virus that causes hashimotos being in the water - and on fresh fruit etc. So i am also wondering about seeing if i have yersinia and if treating that will lessen the antibodies against my thyroid.

Has anyone else gone this route in trying to manage Hashimotos? Have you had a helpful doctor? How was he/she helpful? What progress / results have you seen? Thanks, andra
