Guest guest
Hi all! Hope everyone is doing well. I know I have asked this question before. I had Mild Decompression of the Foramen Magnum and CCF to C7. I had a little complication in that " couple of the cervical vertebra were a little soft " but that the skull and other verbetrae were hard as a rock. So, I am continuing the Forteo shots (to make bone harder) and taking Calcium and Vitamin D every day. I spent 8 days in the ICU on bedrest with wounds I developed from the cervical collar. So, I could not wear any cervical collar during my recovery. We tried to put a Halo on me, but the pain was unbearable, so we took it off. I was sent home and told to continue with mild activity like bedrest. A few days ago, I started hearing a weird, but I can't seem to pinpoint exactly where it is coming from. A few of you emailed me and said that you had that too and that it is okay. I just want to know if there are more of you experiencing the same thing and what did the neurosurgeon say about it. I have emailed 2 of my neurosurgeons and am waiting for their response. I'm just nervous, scared, and impatient. Thanks, Cassie
Guest guest
I wrote Cassie privately, and was asked to send my answer to the list, so this is what I wrote Cassie: Cassie, If they do the fusions the way my last one was done, they pack in cadaver bone around the back of the plate and around the vertebrae. My neck made noises for a long time. Every time I'd move my head, I'd have a chorus of noises in my neck. It slowly subsided. I will still have a pop once in a while, but it's hard to move in the halo, so haven't had one in a while. I hope your recovery is coming along. Just rest as much as possible. I know from past experience that the fusion takes a while to heal from. It takes a long time for the bone to set, it is like having a large fracture that needs to mend. I have strong bone, thank goodness, but it still takes it's toll on my body to mend new bone. Kathleen > Hi all! Hope everyone is doing well. > > I know I have asked this question before.
