Guest guest
Dignity and independence, wow, they seem so far away from an LBD patient. I try that will my dad, who lives in a nursing home. That in itself is quite the task. There are many times that I find myself just automatically wanting to wipe his mouth to remove food particles. But I catch myself, and ask my dad if it is o.k. if I wipe his mouth. It is so heartbreaking that something so small as wiping his mouth is the little bit of dignity and decision making he has left. I must admit though, since the Exelon, he is more able to tell us what is wrong or what he needs. Of course he still has the dementia and is confused, but for the most part, he can let us know when he is hungry or just wants to go for a walk. Guest guest
Sandie, We are doing OK. Dad is down to 108 lb. after having a bad cold for about two weeks. He has also developed urinary track infection. They could not get a sample so they had to catheterize him and it took five people to hold him down. He is on another antibiotic now and hope he will pull through this and gain some weight. Talk later Debbie Norwalk, IA.
