I would love to hear if anyone has tried keppra for migraines. That is

the next suggestion from the neurologist.

I elevated the head of my daughter's bed 3 inches even though the

latest report was that her csf was not obstructed, and amazingly her

migraines have been half as bad (her bed would break if we put it up

6 " , I also think she would slide off!!). Her migraines were coming

every 2-3 days and we went 4 days without one! That leads me to believe

there is something fishy about the radiology report saying her csf flow

is normal. There would be no difference with sleeping flat or

evelvating her bed if it were normal, right??

Thank you in advance :-)

I have not tried Keppra for Migraines, but for seizures. As with

Topomax, Keppra was actually developed for seizures, and I have not

heard of it being used for migraines the way Topomax is. You have to

titrate up on it slowly. The side effects can be quite trying for some

people. It is well known in epilepsy circles for causing bad mood

swings in some people (extreme irritability, easily agitated, and

extreme giddiness all like a light switch). Also, some people

experience difficulty with language-finding words mixing up words, as

well as memory issues and fine motor skill difficulty. Some people do

adjust to the side effects after they have been on them for some time,

but for me they were not tolerable even on the initial dose.
