Guest guest
Hi, all. I jut got my latest lab results. I take 62.5 mcg of T4 for 25 days before having the following tests. FT3 4.91 (2.5-6.5) FT4 14.78 (11.5-23.2) TSH 8.08 (0.35-5.5) rT3 0.54 (0.2-0.64) HGH 0.69 (0.06-5)=== too low? The month before last month I take 87.5 mcg for 20 days and 75 for 10 days, results came out as hyper. So I was off medicine for about 2 weeks to eliminate the violent reaction, then restarted the dose of 62. 5 mcg. Following were the labs when hyper FT3 8.27 (2.5-6.5) FT4 28.58 ( 11.5-23.2) TSH 0.00 (0.35-5.5) This time the doctor I visited asked me to stay at 62.5 mcg and wait for next blood work. He said that TSH could drop as time goes by. But I just gained weight by 2 KG since last month, also suffer from fatigue and other symptoms. The basal temp was tested as 36.3 C these days, . Do you agree with him? Because the TSH came out as 8, so I am now changing back to 75 mcg. But the doctor didn't agree with me..He also does not know the optimum TSH was around 1 or 2, but said TSH in the normal range is OK enough. Any advices? Thanks Fragrance
Guest guest
Hi Fragrance, It sure sounds like your doctor has been extreme with your thyroid care. No HyPO person should be taken off their meds, reduced yes, but not off completely if they are truly HyPO. That just is unprofessional and reckless. TSH is not a good measure, because of the on and off T4 med your TSH is VERY unreliable. TSH is tricky if it's suppressed it can take over a year to go back up and on the other hand it can shut-up rapidly and stay there even if your levels of FT4/FT3 are efficient. Also, when on a T4 drug alone it's best to test at 6-8 weeks, not before 4 weeks. Your FT4 is 28% of range, low, but maybe it would even out by 6-8 weeks – who knows, so this is useless info at this point. Your FT3 is at 60% of range, so you know that you DO convert the inactive T4 to T3 or it's just taking longer to crash. Nonetheless, having a low T4 and T3 high isn't the best result for feeling good. How do you feel? What are your worst symptoms? Another thing if you stay with a doc that over medicates you and then makes you go cold turkey on your T med for a couple of weeks your Adrenals will burn out for sure. Have you had any Adrenals tests? Also, a HGH test will be low if you consumed anything sweet prior to the test. Why was HGH tested? Do you have pituitary problems too? If my math is correct, you gained about 4 ½ pounds and your temp is about 97.34 F. This tells me you still have a ways to go to feel good. Anyway, your doc sounds like s/he is a TSH worshipper, so beware you may never get better with someone biased. Hope you find a competent doctor. If you *have* to stay with this doc do NOT go off your meds again! Suggest to the dr. that s/he give the 75 mcg every other day and the 62.5 mcg the other days. Adjust the amounts and days until you feel good. You may, also, need to test for other things as well that go along with Hashis/HyPO – like gluten intolerance, vitamin B-12 anemia, low iron, and others. Happy New Year! Bj > > > Hi, all. Guest guest
thanks very much ,BJ. For HGH, I just had it tested for screening randomely, but found it is low! and suspect that my sex hormones could be very low, too. But still wait for next lab to test them. The doctor said that could be caused by hypopuritarism. I am worried. I think I will have AF and Vit D tested in a few months. But bone density scanning is easier for me. The doctors I visited just say that at my age it is not necessary to have BMD tested except the elderly women, but I am still worried about my bone health... Fragrance > > > > > > Hi, all.
