Guest guest
This is crazy! My 8 year old was detethered in 12/06 and decompressed in 12/07. Not long after her surgery she started having headaches again but control by ibuprofen. Gradually they got worse and more frequent and then started the numbness in her hands and legs. If she sits at the dinner table her legs go numb. Yes I checked to make sure she is not siting on them. She had been wetting the bed about 3-4 times a month but now she can not go at all. I toke her to the peditrician and he did not know what to do but call TCI and get us an appointment now. It gets better. My 13 year old has been out of school for 3 months with severe headaches. (dethered 12/07 and Chiari herniation gone after) On Monday night it got real bad but nights are always worse for my kids. Tuesday she was worse crying vomiting, weak, and shaking. I was told taking her to a teaching hospital would be the best. So that is what we did but of course they treated it as a migraine and guess what the medicine didn't work. I told them this to begin with but they would just look at me like I was crazy. They ended up admitting her and having us waste 2 days in the hospital. They did nothing for her pain except take the edge off and the neuro that came in put her back on Elavil. I told the doctor 3 times she had tried it and it does not help. I ended up telling the doctor that agreed with all that she was saying just to get out of there. I don't understand when the doctors do not know what to do why can't they just call TCI. They are not God and TCI is not either but they do know a lot about this nightmare. Both of these situations was occuring at the same time. Sorry so long I needed to vent. If anyone has any relief suggestions in the meantime I would love to hear them. Oh my 13 year can't lay flat because it makes the headache worse.
