Guest guest
Hi Lou, well, a positive ANA is simply a sign of inflammation, a non-specific finding. The pattern helps determine the cause sometimes, it is not definitive. But a positive ANA plus a particular type of facial rash is typical of lupus. But not all rashes are Lupus, I had what my doc called a “peri-oral dermatitis” (rash around the mouth) for many years, he swore it was bacterial, but it was allergic, and finally disappeared when I went through the NAET allergy treatments. I had it for over 10 years. I believe that in the end Lupus (or any of the arthritic type conditions) is diagnosed by a Rheumatologist. But the Hematologist would understand about the different ANA patterns and what they may imply. It sounds like perhaps there were more indications of altered WBC function than just the ANA. Time will tell, have some patience, you are in good hands with Dr. Bell. Aylwin xox
Guest guest
I went to a hematologist way back in 1977 when I first became sick. It was a worthless experience. However, since you are a patient of Dr. Bell's I would do whatever he suggested. He is very experience and knowledgeable about CFIDS and has been in the loop of CFIDS docs for probably over 20 yrs. Good luck and let us know your experience. diane
