Guest guest
Hi Everyone, I had the absolute pleasure of having a neuro. consultation with Dr. Rosner last week. In my years of trying to find answers, I have met with both local and out of state Chiari 'specialists/experts' and, have finally found someone who really is not only a chiari expert, but is also incredibly human. I did not detect an ounce of the " God Complex " . He doesn't let his extensive knowledge, experience and ability to help SO 'the needy' (smile) get to his head. I can't say that about ANY of the neurosurgeon's I've dealt with. He also surrounds himself with staff members who are also incredibly knowledgable, kind, funny and ... patient. :-) I was referred out to a cardiologist (tilt table test) and a hematologist (my bleeding disorder). Again, I was blown away by their knowledge and expertise in their fields. Dr. (cardiologist) knew WAY more than the average joe about Chiari. I'd be willing to bet my life on his knowing a lot more about it's impacts/implications than the neurosurgeon who initially did my chiari decompression. The Hematologist knew of Chiari but, more importantly for my needs, he fully understood the specifics/implications of my particular bleeding disorder (which isn't exactly one of the cut/dry ones). I honestly felt like I was in the twighlight zone while there. Even the hospital staff was incredible. I failed the tilt table test. WOW what an 'intriguing' test. LOL. I had a completely different and more detailed set of MRIs done than I have ever had done. Talk about thorough!!!! Dr. Rosner found things that my doctors should have found even on their text book MRI requests. He pointed out quite a few interesting little tidbits on the MRI's. Kinda makes me want to ask the local docs what they heck they were thinking about when they viewed my scans! Grrrr. CSF Flow Study - again, he picked up things that local docs didn't; like, um, some inadequate flow of csf - the main reason that my local docs had me do CSF Flow study's. What part of flow problems didn't they understand while looking at the films???????????? CT scan - again - he saw stuff that should have been caught before. Neck Xrays - I've never had xrays of my neck done this way before. But, even so, my docs should have seen the Klippel-feil (fusion of my c2-c3). After my appointments with Dr. Rosner, I don't know whether to laugh, cry or beat the living day lights out of some of the local docs who supported (ha!) me during the last SIX years. I will be eternally grateful to Dr. Rosner, his staff and other specialists that he brings on board as needed. I can not emphasize enough to the folks out there that Dr. Rosner is an exceptional Doctor, an expert in his field and a wonderful human being.
