Guest guest
Hi all! I'm new to posting on this board (or any other for that matter)...I was diagnosed with Hashi's about 3 years ago while I was living in Las Vegas. I had a wonderful Physician's Assistant. Well, I moved to be closer to family and now live in land. I have had the worst time trying to find a good doctor...Here are my woes: I was slowly ramped up to synthroid 125 mcg and armour thyroid 30mg. This worked rather well for me and I felt pretty good. I switched pharmacies to a mail order pharmacy and slowly began to have problems. I started breaking out terribly on my face and was completely out of wack with my energy. Enough trips to the doctor and now my doctor thinks I'm a complete quack! Come to find out that the armour thyroid that I was getting from this online pharmacy was different then the one that I had been on from Rite Aid (the A's were different on the pill even, one was block and the other cursive). By this time the doctor had pulled me completely off of the Armour and I was exhausted. I requested a referral to an endocronologist. The endocronologist did not want to put me back on the armour either and was adjusting the synthroid. At one point he had me up to 150mcg and I was purely miserable. My antibodies (anti TPO I think) at this point were over 3000 (I can't find the lab results right now). I begged for him to put me back on the Armour and he finally relented. Then, of course he left. Back and forth with my primary care physician, she has me on an antidepressant (zoloft). I don't really think that I need it but ever since I quit smoking 2 years ago I have been a little short tempered and it helps there. I am on the lowest dose. The new endocronologist wanted to take me back off of the armour and switch to Cytomel. I listened but with the request that if I did not like it he would agree to put my back on my original med's. I was feeling alright with the current medication so I don't know why I relented except that I try to think that the doctor's know best. The Cytomel made me feel miserable. Endo took me off of that and back to Synthroid only. Feeling miserable. I self medicate back to armour thyroid (last refill left) so that I can at least feel good through the holidays. I have called and left messages with the endo to put me back on the armour and he now refuses stating that there must be something else wrong with me. Had the same argument with my PCP. If the armour combination makes me feel good then I don't quite understand why they will not prescribe it! I have about had it with doctor's!!!!! Any advice???? I have contemplated driving to the doctor that Shomon uses in virginia, although not quite sure how far that is! I simply need someone to prescribe by symptoms and listen to me and not as if I was a hyponchondriac!! Liz
