Guest guest
Hi, I see no one else responded to you, so I'll try. Sorry you're having such a hard time. I can only speak for myself... I had horrible periods when I was undertreated. And I am not a good example though - rather the odd ball. I wonder how many women here had a fibroid tumor in their uterus when they were pregnant? I did and it was awful. There are women here in their mid/late fifties who still have periods. At age 42, that was two years ago, I was in complete menopause. I am very diligent to take my calcium, magnesium, vitamin c, zinc and vitamin d etc. I had very heavy and horrible can't hold my legs up periods. They were so awful when I had no energy from being very HYPO. I also think it could have had something to do with my diet, too. Progesterone normally helps ease the flow up. Are you deficient in it? Or is your doc using it as a quick fix? I know it is difficult, but you need a knowledgeable doc. You may have other or additional hormone problems and treating one without the other(s) is usually not a good practice - even harmful. Hopefully, you have a competent doc. What are your FT3 and FT4 levels now? If you don't feel better research and find answers to your thyroid issues. Is your iron and ferritin levels optimal (50-100 for ferritin)? If not that could be why your meds aren't getting into your cells where they are needed. Lots of Hashi patients have low vitamin b12 and vitamin d. I never really got better until I eliminated gluten (wheat) from my diet. At one time I was on 6 grains of Armour and 50 mcg of Cytomel. I am now on 2.5 grains of Armour only. Contrary to what we're led to believe, gluten can cause all kinds of problems. Every 7th person in the world has gluten intolerance or some sort of gluten sensitivity. Celiac disease is an auto-immune disease found in approximately 1 in 300 people or a 1/2 of one percent of the world's population. Many people that have non-Celiac gluten problems are not even aware of it. Gluten is a protein foreign to the human digestive system. You may want to get your Adrenals checked at some point, too - many of us also have Adrenal issues. Guest guest
---thank you for your post. I am having inj B12 every 10 days, and taking high dose of iron that my doc gave me, also he gave me adrenal boost suppl., Folic acid high dose. He looked in my eyes and said that i am iron deffiecient which i knew too. I just had a syliva test for sex hormons, just mailed today morning. We haven't check yet FT3 and FT4 again, but in august my regular doc checked and it was FT4 0.86 and T3 was 78, TSH 1.33. MY REG DOC DIDN'T WANT TO DO FREE F3. so my ND doc did some testing(questins) and he said i am probably very low in progesteron level. He ordered test for me and presctibed a progesteron tab, which i didnot take yet because of irregular period.every time it is time to take progesteron tabs and my period come. I shuld take on 14-28 cycle. I still haven't talk to my ND today , he called once , but i was at shcool. I still waiting for his call. What do you think? What i should tell him to do? Should we run some another tests? I really don't know is he knowlegable doc or not, he using progesteron tab as a quik fix or not. You are righ it is very difficult to find out right now. Thank you for your time. Maybe you can guide me? Pls. thnk you. Sorry for my english, i know it is difficult for you to follow me In Thyroiditis , " beckyjov " wrote: > > Hi, > > I see no one else responded to you, so I'll try. > > Sorry you're having such a hard time. Guest guest
Hi again, Where do you live? I think your English is fine. I live in eastern Washington State, USA – near Spokane. It is good that the doc checked your female hormones. How old are you? Do you have Hashimoto's? If so are your anti-thyroid antibodies high? (Thyroid peroxidase antibodies, Anti-thyroglobulin antibodies) I can't comment on your thyroid numbers as you omitted the ranges, which differ from lab to lab. Maybe it's a good thing that you haven't taken the progesterone, I would want to know if it's low or high before I take it. Is the doc checking it, too? It sounds like you have digestive problems issues. I got B12 injections weekly for way over a year. The shots didn't significantly help until I changed my diet though - then found out I didn't need them for very long thereafter. Gluten can cause all kinds of problems. It would be nice to have all the money back that I spent on various ineffective remedies because of undiagnosed gluten intolerance. I would be cautious of taking iron without proper tests. I have never heard of diagnosing low iron via the eyes, but have heard that you can look around the pupils for Adrenal fatigue. You can feel really bad with too much iron, too. Many thyroid patients have iron overload. It is a lot easier to optimize high iron than low iron - just donate blood. What are your symptoms? My daughters and I all have low iron - we are all very pale and my youngest daughter's friends call her " Snow " - they think she is whiter than snow. She has improved a tad, thank goodness. If you get an iron panel insist upon a ferritin test, too. Ferritin is storage iron and can reveal low levels long before a CBC or iron panel will. It is quiet important to be on the right dose of the right thyroid medication. Unfortunately, most docs prescribe only Synthroid and keep most of their thyroid patients under medicated due to excessive dependence on the TSH test. Many, like your doc, won't test FT3. The T3 (total t3) test is obsolete and unreliable it only estimates a calculation of how much Total T3 is in the blood. I used to have high normal T3 tests, but low FT3. The FT3 tells the free and available T3 hormone for use by the body. Many doctors still use pre 1980 tests. You would think they would use the newer accurate ones. Good luck, Bj > > > > > > > > Hi everyone! > > > > I've been taking Nature Thyroid since end of november , and now > i > > am > > > on > > > > 2 grains.
