Guest guest
The past few days I've had really bad painful hiccups that last at least an hour or longer... anyone else having this, is it related to Chiari? I've had problems swallowing things as well. Anyone have any good remedies? They obviously made the headaches worse, and they hurt my chest of course... any help would be great. Guest guest
YES! I do have a good cure for hiccups, as I get them so frequently! okay I get them enough that I can do this myself. But, until you get good at it, have someone stand behind you, plug your ears, you drink a glass a water(or as much as you can drink) and swallow, swallow. Even if you cannot finish the glass of water, drink as much as you can. The the person releases your ears, then you should be done with the hiccups. My Dad taught me this one, and it has never failed me, and many people, it has never failed them, although I have never tried it on another Chiarian. Let me know how it goes. I know how painful the hiccups get. Guest guest
There are so many good tips here, it seems that there has to be a solution that will fit every situation. I guess I'll add mine to the mix and it always works for me. I think it's along the same line as Beth's: When I get the hiccups, I tell someone (or just myself if I'm alone), " I'm going to tell you out loud right before my next hiccup, that I'm going to hiccup. " I will never hiccup again. But...disclaimer, i don't have odontoid compression so maybe that's different.
