Guest guest
Ok, For the past week I've had these INTENSE headaches that come and go, and every few minutes or so I get this horrible dizzy spells. I went to the ER about four days ago - they tested my heart (not sure why), and they said my hearts fine and sent me home. I set up a follow-up with my primary Doc, and she set up an EEG for this Wednesday - but that night I was laying down trying to sleep and my body jolted upward, my legs started moving uncontrollably, and I felt like I lost control of my bowels. My partner worked in Nursing homes - and said that he's sure I had a seizure from what I did vs what he's seen before. I should have gone to the hospital again right then - but didn't. Last night, my partner and I were playing Kart, and all of a sudden I lost control of my eyes. They were moving uncontrollably, and non-stop blinking. So we went back to the ER. The doctor gave me Valium and Morphine and though the headache stayed, the Valium drastically slowed the eye movement. They did a CAT scan, and the doctor said he saw a Chiari Malformation in the lower base of my brain and that I need to set up a MRI. To make a long story short (too late), I was reading all these websites about Chiari Malformations and of course, all the symptoms ring true. So - my question. How often is surgery done to correct this? I'm calling my doc Monday and trying to set up an appt so we can go over all of this. Does anyone know the best way to present it to a doctor so they take it seriously? I mean, I know the CAT scan showed that I have it - but you know how dr's are. Anyways. I'm just really scared and looking for support. Thanks for reading my novel.
