Guest guest
Please note that applications are now being taken for folks that wish to serve on the interagency council for autism and PDD's. The committment entails about 6 meetings a year for which your travel expenses will be reimbursed. Applications can be sought from the Governor's appointment office . be sure to return your application to the attention of AMY ERBEN no later than early AUgust as appointments will be announced the beginning of September. A alot of people worked hard to get changes to the Council - we are optimistic that with a solid core of knowledgeable, hardworking people on board the Council can lead to improved services for our children. Let's not miss this opportunity! Please read below about the time committment. Ronnie Autism Council The Council has met in the past on a quarterly basis, but I think it probably needs to be more often than that at least initially. I would expect maybe six or so meetings a year. In the past, there has not been committee work done, but once the advisory task force is named, I can forsee there being more of that type of work to do. I think it could be handled without a formal meeting but will still require some time. Bottom line is that a person could put in about as much time as they are willing to spend on it. There is a lot that needs to be done. There just have not been people in the past willing to give the time to it. I would tell anyone considering the positions to expect a fairly substantial outlay of time at least during the next two years. Tim
