Guest guest
Hi everyone, Has anyone had any experience working with a mom with Sjogren's Syndrome? I had a prenatal breastfeeding student approach me after class to ask if her autoimmune disorders (Rheumatoid arthritis and Sjogren's Syndrome) will effect her milk supply. She has been taking Plaquenil for 10 years and barely sees symptoms anymore. She also has been on levothyroxine to treat hypothyroidism. Will these health issues increase her risk for a low milk supply? Is there anything she can do before her baby is born? Thank you, in advance, for your assistance and insight! Thanks! Guest guest
I have had a client with Sjogren's. She produced enough milk for her second baby, now 6 months old (I didn't work with her on the first). From all the reading I have done there seems to be no solid evidence that it affects the mammary glands. Good news!
