Guest guest
Dee, What about something along the lines of seeing a professional herbalist if you ahve any serious health condition - not just SJW, but that self-treatment is best limited to minor complaints and that a trained practitioner is best consulted if people wish to treat anything more serious with herbal medicines. Sara p.s. I have only seen Monday's GMTV so far, but well done - very nice, clear, simple advice - I'll endeavour to have a look at tomorrow's edition. St s wort Just noting the messgaes coming in about St s wort and at the same time listening to the Chief Medical Officer on the 7pm Channel 4 news defending the herb. She added the caution that it should be avoided with certain heart medications and the contraceptive pill. It was encouraging to hear her supporting the use of the plant nad saying that there were no plans to 'ban' it. Surely its time for an institute press release, and a policy on what to tell patients and press. I did a half hour radio interview on it today and need to be able to sum up the situation in two lines for next Mondays GMTV slot. Any suggestions? Guest guest
Hi Dee The problem is not that they will ban it - it makes far too much money for that - but that it will become prescription only, because as we know GPs are much more careful in monitoring interactions between their medicines than us quaint herbalists! And certainly the radio news bulletin that I heard didn't give any sort of balanced report - it was very alarmist. Can anyone actually post the original references that all this nonsense is based upon? Cheers Graham White B.Sc. (Herb. Med.), MNIMH.
