Guest guest
> We have just moved from the southside of Atlanta to the northside. > We are now in the Roswell/Marietta area. Is anyone from this area? Stefanie, We live in Alpharetta, and have a small but wonderful parents support group in North Fulton. We're meeting this Saturday (the 21st) from 10-12 at a member's home in Crabapple to discuss what treatments we've tried and what has worked best for our children. If you'd like to attend, send me an email at sueswanson@..., and I'll give you the hostess's phone number. (I don't know what the rules are about posting someone's number here without their permission.) Hope to see you soon! Sue
Guest guest
, I live in the East Cobb area. There is a good group that meets once a month at Mt. Bethel United Methodist Church on Lower Roswell Road. I can't remember which night it is they meet, but I will be happy to get the info to you if you are interested. It's actually an asperger's support group, but my child is not asperger's and i've gone a couple of times when the topic sounded of interest to me. They do a good job getting speakers, etc. Let me know if you want this info. Barbara
Guest guest
, The group is called Atlanta Asperger Syndrome Resource/Support Group. They meet the second Tuesday of each month at 7:00 PM in Mt. Bethel United Methodist Church on Lower Roswell Road. The group leader is Carol Wilkerson. I believe she has twin boys with Aspergers and she was helpful in getting a special needs sunday school class started at the church (actually 2 classes - 1 for teens and 1 for younger kids). She is very nice. I only attended the meeting when I was particularly interested in the speaker and to be honest I didn't stay after to chat with any other parents, so I don't know if they are mostly aspies. The group has a website at http://aspergeratlanta.home.mindspring.com or you can email Carol at clwesq@.... I checked with her to be sure it was okay to put her email out here. My child on the autism spectrum is my oldest, who just turned 17! I have 3 other children, ages 14, 11 and 7. My son just started attending Wheeler high in January. Prior to that he was attending a private school for special needs in Alpharetta. We have been very pleased so far with the people at Wheeler and he loves it. Where do you live, how old is your child and what school does he/she attend? Good luck! Barbara
