Guest guest
Has there ever been a documented case of a baby getting yeast again after drinking milk that was pumped during a time when the mother had yeast? Keep in mind that even though a mother may discard milk she has pumped from the time she KNEW she had yeast, she likely had it before she knew it, hence thousands of babies have been exposed to yeasty milk. Think about it. If we have a yeast infection ourselves at some point, do we never consume yeast breads again? Never have a glass of wine, can of beer (I originally wrote bear....), eat good old blue cheese? Of course not -- and we don't worry about getting another yeast infection. Even adults that get oral thrush after chemo don't eschew these things once they can go back to eating normally. Also remember that the only way we can really culture yeast in milk is by adding iron to overwhelm the lactoferrin so the yeast can grow (lactoferrin is antifungal). That was a wonderful lecture at the ILCA conference one year. And moms continue to breastfeed their babies through the yeast infection itself, so why dump the pumped milk???
