Guest guest
Go to Gramada's site and suggest her book, Mothering multiples. I found that she has an excellent birth plan in case of C-sec in addition to wonderful positioning pictures. Teaching mom how to manually express so that when babies arrive she can express her colostrum can be helpful if needed to prevent formula use. There's a multitude of other suggestions but this comes to mind first. Barbara Latterner
Guest guest
The support for after birth is crucial, especially after C/S. Supporting Mom & her babies with " skin to skin " habitats, involving her partner / extended family member in those first 48 -96 hours will also support babies transitions & fussiness/cries will not always be confused for feeding behaviors. Mom will benefit from Gromada book. It is a great resource & tool. BF management is always individualized. Protecting & stimulating supply is a primary constant in the beginning. SCWatkins A friend is due in June with naturally conceived twins. Have you found that twins conceived without help have an easier time than other multiples? What have you found to be most helpful when working with these families? I'm guessing that doing everything possible to reach term and have unmedicated births, lots of support after the births are important; what else can this mom or her helpers do to support her? Thank you! warm regards, McCormick, IBCLC Shelburne Vermont
