Guest guest
Dear Stuart and everyone, Yes - there are enough problems in the world and I don't think that personal religious inclinations or preferences are especially relevant to the group nor to our shared experiences as herbalists. But - Stuart - the problem is there. The modern meaning of holiness [entirely a concept related to god-worship] - whatever it's origins - and also - which I did not go into the implications of the word purity which a relativist like myself cannot accept - creates a hoop which the affirming herbalist should not have to go through. A simple change will not only solve the problem - it will avoid the need for more of this tedious correspondence. But if this is not the place to talk about problems - great or small - where is? [And in any case I didn't start it all - You (Stuart) didn't seem to object to a number of letters praising the concept!!!] When you light that blue touch paper you know the likely results. It is a heartfelt point. There are many qualifying herbalists who would be troubled, as I was, by being expected to say something they don't necessarily agree with - and the problem is easily remedied. By the way - thanks Stuart for your useful thoughts about verbena - much appreciated! Very best wishes to all Steve Bindman
