Where is the pain coming from?

The pain in the rib may be coming from the nerve endings around

the bones, the nerves are located right under each of the ribs.

If there is any bleeding and swelling, it can cause

pain also. The muscles around the bone also have to adapt and

can easily go into spasms when they try to hold the broken bone

in place. Most doctors are not so concerned about the broken rib

as they are the effects on the surrounding tissues and organs.

When they take this kind of testing film, it is more to be sure

of this than the bone itself, unless the bone has to be moved

back into the correct position so it heals well. They usually

check for clotting also. In Bob's case, this is very serious

cause, if he has osteoporous. ..this means it could happen easily

again. My heart goes out to Bob...he has suffered quite enough.
