Guest guest
Hello Again List, The Texas Center for Autism Research & Treatment http://www.tacrt.org , maintains a database of individuals that want to be notified of upcoming research opportunities, activities and news. It is free to join the TCART Database, you just need to send them your information. I filled out a membership form last year at the Medical Conference and that is how I found out about their chelation study, their immunological blood testing study, and their sleep EEG & MRI study (all of which we are doing). The food sensitivity testing they ordered has helped my son too. When they receive grants, their study/testing is paid for and the individuals participating can get free tests and treatments. Some of their studies are not grant-paid but your insurance may pay for it. They collect research/information to share with top researchers and doctors in the US and world. Last month I volunteered to help TCART in any way (as our SA Autism Society suggested), and now I am " webmastering " their site as I do the Texas-Autism-Advocacy's site (which we need to work on-send me links!!- http://www.angelfire.com/tx5/autismlist). A lot of parents here in San are donating their time and abilities to help them (we aren't employees and don't get paid but we know we indirectly helping other children). I will try and keep this list up-to-date on studies and news, but you may want to consider printing out their membership application and mailing it in so that you know you won't miss out on news - http://www.tcart.org/membership.htm . I know they are actively seeking grants and are keeping up new research findings and treatments. Dr. is conservative but he is also pro-active in finding out what medical/biological problems our kids have and treating them. They are not a large operation and they don't receive any pay for their work. Money received from office visits goes back into TCART. They don't file to insurances but they will fill out insurance forms for you to submit to your own insurance. My office visit in August was $200's but Aetna paid me back $185.00 and paid for most of the blood tests he suggested/ordered. Some of the tests he suggested, I gave to my pediatrician for her to order since I knew my insurance would pay for those (and she did not know what kind of tests to run). If you have any suggestions, links, resources, etc. to submit to this or the TCART site, please let me know. The days run short when you have little kids getting into trouble-and it is not always my ASD son causing all of the problems-so I would appreciate any help.
