Guest guest
Hi All, I have written this on onother site but there seems to be a lot of different people on this site. Haven't posted for a while but read your posts every day. I am going on an Alaskan cruise in about 5 weeks.I am really looking forward to it but like usual there is always a problem being FAT. I know the weight is decreasing but I am going on this holiday NOW and have to face the hurdles that I have caused myself e.g. Have to ask the ever so softly to the airhostess ca I please have a seat extension. Put the food in my lap as the table in front will not go down all the way! Cannot go on an excursion to go on a husky sled ride as you get there by helicopter and there is a weight limit of 110kg and am still way over that. Will have to let my friends go without me….so embarrassing!! Hate getting into coaches as the isles are so narrow and you have to walk side ways down the isle to get to your seat. I have a really supportive husband and kids who are all so happy with what I have done… now the weight is coming off. So I am very lucky there!! I dont want people's sympathy just understanding why I have reservations about my once in a life time holiday. And why I am not truely looking forward to it. I also used to be a theatre sister for many years and loved it but now wouldn't even fit into theatre clothes so now into another area of nursing. I thank my Dr every day for doing this operation which I know has saved my life!! Everyone have a great weekend and thank goodness the house doesn't have so many Easter eggs left! Guest guest
Hi Dasha I can relate to your fears. The only thing I can suggest which is probably impossible for you is, can you postpone the trip and go when you are at goal weight or close to it when you won’t have all those hurdles to jump and will be more energetic to fully enjoy your holiday. Guest guest
Dear Dasha, How I understand as will a lot on this site. My advice, go on your dream trip, take part in the things you can manage with NO reservations. Don't feel embarassed or withdrawn let the 'old' Dasha have a ball, a truly memorable holiday with no holds barred because when you get on that plane to come home, leave that Dasha there. You will be coming home to transform into a new person. Hold your head high, we all realise you will be the same underneath, the same heart, morals, principles etc. but you will never have to feel this dread and pain again. Go, enjoy, and hold your head high, no one, no matter what body shape is a better person than you. You are so fortunate to have the love and support of a caring, loving family. Believe me, nothing else really matters. Best wishes, Maree
