Guest guest
Here's the study on PubMed which includes the e-mail address of one of the authors FJ Bosker in The Netherlands in case anyone wants to contact them regarding PSSD, also those who developed PSSD from suddenly quitting the SSRI. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/20946930 FJ Bosker has also been involded in other studies regarding SSRIs: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed?term=%22Bosker%20FJ%22%5BAuthor%5D It would be interesting if they could carry out a study in rats to see what happens to other neurotransmitters like dopamine, norepinephrine, GABA, Glutamine, etc. in the rats when the SSRI is suddenly withdrawn/stopped. >> http://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/mad-in-america/201011/new-rat-study-\> ssris-markedly-deplete-brain-serotonin> <http://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/mad-in-america/201011/new-rat-study\> -ssris-markedly-deplete-brain-serotonin>>
Guest guest
Adam, So are you implying that people who have anxiety on this site do not actually have PSSD? There are lots of people here who still have anxiety along with their PSSD. > > > > > > http://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/mad-in-america/201011/new-rat-study-\ > > > ssris-markedly-deplete-brain-serotonin > > > <http://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/mad-in-america/201011/new-rat-study\ > > > -ssris-markedly-deplete-brain-serotonin> > > > > > >
Guest guest
Hi,A prolactin blood test will give an indication if someone has high serotonin (and low dopamine). High serotonin = low dopamine = high prolactin (and vice versa). The rat study is saying that long-term SSRI use, or the sudden discontinuation of the SSRI, depletes serotonin, and not depletion after a day or in the short-term. According to Dr no's posts on another forum, normal or high dopamine and testosterone do not guarantee normal or high libido, etc. E.g. Excess testosterone gets converted to estradiol and elevated estradiol causes symptoms similar to PSSD.All the best.http://www.drkaslow.com/html/neurotransmitter_depletion.html ------------------- For newer members who have not seen the following: What should I do if currently suffer SSRI sexual side effects, but have been off the drug for several months?Find a doctor and get a comprehensive blood test. We recommend the following:Total Testosterone, Bioavailable Testosterone (sometimes called "Free and Loosely Bound"), Free Testosterone (If Bio T is not available), SHBG, DHT, Estradiol (Specify the "Sensitive Extraction Method"), Total Estrogens, LH, FSH, Prolactin, Cortisol, Thyroid Panel (TSH, FT3, FT4), Complete Blood Count, Comprehensive Metabolic Panel, Lipid Panel, Homocysteine, and IGF-1 The Right Way to Wean Off an (SSRI/SNRI/SSNRI) antidepressanthttp://www.antidepressantsfacts.com/taper.htm > > >> > > http://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/mad-in-america/201011/new-rat-study-\> > > ssris-markedly-deplete-brain-serotonin> > > <http://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/mad-in-america/201011/new-rat-study\> > > -ssris-markedly-deplete-brain-serotonin>> > >> >>
