Guest guest
.... Is sacred to Hogmagog, god of the sun and of the year, and this evening at midnight - Hogmanay - front doors are opened to let out the spirit of the old year and let in the spirit of the new... I wish you all a peaceful and joyous ending to this twentieth Christian century, and a sure-footed and wisely peaceful entry into its third millennium... As is my wont, and for all the fact that I seem to not be able to fulfil these wishes myself, I should like to add my customary two prayers for the well-being of all that exists: May all beings have happiness and the causes of happiness, May they be free from sorrow and the causes of sorrow, May they never be separate from the sacred happiness that knows no sorrow, And putting aside attachment to what is considered 'near' and dislike for what is considered 'far', may they live believing in the equal-nature of all that exists. Throughout the universe as a whole and in this very place also May even the names 'disease', 'famine', 'war' and 'suffering' no longer be heard, But may virtuous qualities, merit and prosperity increase and abound, And may there be a continuous stream of perfectly realised good fortune, well-being and auspiciousness. Happy New Year. m
