Guest guest
One of the first things I learned about Hepatic Encephalopathy was how hard it was to remember how to spell that darn word! I never really understood what it was until after my wife passed away so didn't truly realize when she was suffering from it. The more I read the more I could recall episodes. Such as angry for no reason, mild confusion etc. I understood it was from cirrhosis but didn't understand the dynamic of this specific symptom. For those new members who don't know me, I'm MaC and have belonged to the group for two years now. I came here to learn and help others after my wife passed from cirrhosis at the age of 31. Some of her pictures are in the photos folder. I used to post a lot more than I have lately. (Busy taking college classes) As some of the " old timers " here know, I love to research articles and post them. I thinks that's how I ended learning so much about this disease and it's many symptoms. Anyway, this leads me to the article I'm posting today. Abijann, posted a while back about the blood brain barrier so I started reading a little bit more about HE and came across this article on the web. It's in a PDF format and pretty medical so be forewarned. http://www.acg.gi.org/physicians/guidelines/HepaticEncephalopathy.pdf MaC
