9:00-10:30 Biological Nurturing (BN) and the Laidback Breastfeeding Revolution,

Suzanne Colson, PhD, RM, RGN, BA, MSc Research examining the mechanisms of

biological nurturing (BN)~laid-back breastfeeding and an introduction to the

components and how BN offers a robust neurological framework to support

breastfeeding initiation.

10:30-10:45—Break

10:45-12:00 Diet During Pregnancy and Breastfeeding and Allergies in Childhood,

Yakes, PhD, RD Meeting optimal nutrient needs during pregnancy and to

support lactation. Discussion of recent research on the potential relationship

between diet during pregnancy and breastfeeding and childhood allergies.

12:00-12:30—Lunch

12:30-1:00 Postpartum Weight Management, Yakes, PhD, RD Address the

scope of the problem in postpartum weight gain and the research on strategies to

help mothers achieve a healthy weight.

1:00-2:30 Breastfeeding in Late Preterm Infants, Ginna Wall, RN, MN, IBCLC

Discuss the prenatal breastfeeding education staff can provide for families

anticipating a late preterm birth to help prepare for the challenges of feeding

a late preterm baby. Review the history of the concept of a " late preterm "

infant. Using case studies, describe a plan of care for breastfeeding mothers

and their late preterm babies.

2:30-2:45—Break

2:45-4:15 Connecting with the Connected Mother, Kinne, BA, IBCLC, RLC,

ICCE, CD (DONA) Supporting the ancient art of breastfeeding in the 21st century.

Examine communication styles and the use of technology and social media for

serving millennial mothers.
