Guest guest
When I was coughing alot, I was told to take robitussin dm and that didn't help, I went to the doctor after coughing for 2 mths and my doctor took an xray and later was diagnosed with Pulmonary Fibrosis. He then prescribed a medication called Humibid. Its for dry cough...and those with Pulmonary fibrosis have a dry cough. Just a suggestion Tami
Guest guest
Besides codeine, the only med that helps for my cough is dextromethorphan. I will not take liquid cough medicine and you certainly couldn't get sufficient dosage that way (2 tsp contains 15mg so you'd need 8 tsp), but it's available as Humibid DM, Amibid DM, or Guaifenex DM. Each tablet consists of guaifenesin 600mg and dextromethorphan 30mg. Take 2 tabs twice per day, by Rx of course. Really just the same as robitussin DM, just a tougher dosage for asthmatic's tougher coughs!
Guest guest
Stress, anxiety and just plain worrying is a big part of this disease. Once I got some of that to where I could manage it, my coughing did subside some. The really bad times I do have to take meds for it and that usually only because I cough after and during nebulizer treatments and undo all the good the machine did. if that makes sense. It's a tough call on the coughing. All kinds of things can cause it, the house plants, the animals, the neighbors cig smoke that blows by your windows, a BBQ, foods cooking, food you are eating. I hate to mention this, cause I am the worst person to do this, but I did log everything I ate for a week, cause all other things had been ruled \ out by allergist for the coughing/asthma stuff. I finally found that one bit of baked potato caused me to cough. If it was a potato I grew I could eat it with no problems. Some spices set me off, like they closed the back of my throat and I would start coughing. Right now I know I need to get rid of my African Violets, I am allergic to them, but they are blooming and it is the only bright thing that blooms here in our long winters. I'm just yammering so will stop, but my point is each person has to figure out what is causing the cough. What are you doing when you start coughing, what were you doing before you started coughing, etc. Hope this gives you some ideas where to start. You have to be a detective sometimes to figure out what it is, cause it is never the same thing with people. Good luck, too me years to figure it out. I had to go through a lot of illiminations and I asked people around me to help me, cause some times we just miss it. in AK -- Re: Re: How Do I Control I drink plenty of fluids, but I still seem to coughalot. ____________________________________________________ IncrediMail - Email has finally evolved - Click Here
Guest guest
The last time I had a serious round of coughing that would not go away, it turned out that I had contracted a case of whooping cough, which was currently an epidemic in the county that I was living in. Whooping cough, while deadly for children (and which is making a comeback, unfortunately), is relatively mild in adults but can cause of really bad cough and can aggravate asthma. Sliante, S.
