Guest guest
Yes, I have the mold issue, along with almost all those other things you mention. Shoemaker's theory is that MCS is a sign of a mold issue (although some on this list will debate that theory). I have had reasonable results with accupuncture/NAET treatments. I was just treated last week for the formaldehyde and do notice a difference now when I go into stores with lots of new clothing. I don't believe this is a " cure " per se, but the accupuncture/NAET has certainly provided me lots of symptom relief. I was treated in the spring for the dust/mold samples from my home, and while I don't believe this stops the damage from the toxins much at all, I did feel significantly better in that house and had more energy until I was finally able to move. It was also through these treatments that I seem to have developed the ability to sense when I am being exposed. As far as relief from the nasal symptoms, I find that nasal irrigation twice daily with saline is extremely helpful. I will also occasionally add a small amount of tea tree oil to the solution as that is supposed to be a good anti-fungal and it does seem to really clear things out. But, you need to be very cautious with the tea tree oil as it is very strong - I just put a dab on my fingertip. As far as flu shots, I stay well away from them - many still have mercury as preservative and from what I've seen the dreaded genotypes seem to collect mercury along with all the other toxins. I follow the old wisdom of frequent hand washing and avoidance of crowds (which is what most of us with sensitivities to fragrances have to do anyways) and when I feel something coming on, I take Elderberry extract and extra Zinc, which are supposed to be good for the immune system - there's a brand that's called Sambucol that's also available, but it has raspberry in it and I'm allergic to that, but that is what I give to my kids Peace and Healing, B -------------- Original message -------------- From: " shybasset " <shybasset@...> 2 1/2 years ago, but really kicked in almost 4 months ago with BAD burning throat, tongue, and eyes. It has now given me burning nostrils....all these areas BURN 24/7, and for past month I've developed MCS(multiple chemical sensitivities) very badly......had gas man out today to check for gas(carbon mon) leaks but none. I've narrowed(lol) it down ...symptoms...to about 5 things: YEAST, mold, MCS, carpet off-gas of formaldyhyde/pesticides. Had Endoscopy last week....visually throat was ok but many biopsies taken to test BOTH bacterial and FUNGAL panel...will know in few weeks if cancer, etc. Noticed after endosc that night that my nose was burning(they put a plastic(?) oxygen tube in my nose during procedure.....probably have MCS from the plastic now. Question, do many(any) of you who have mold issue also have MCS with odors, fumes bothering you and are sensitive? Did you see an allergist for treatment? Curious......would the mold exposure be THE CAUSE of MCS....or.....would MCS be the CAUSE of the mold affecting your body.....both prey upon a weakened immune system. Btw, did many of you have your flu shot with no bad reaction? Thanks for comments to above. I've been posting lots on Canadian MCS site, which is almost as supportive as y'all are. KC, thanks for your concern through all this!! Steve
Guest guest
Steve, You're welcome. I will try to address a couple of your questions, I will relate them to what happened with Sharon. As far as MCS being caused by mold, for her, yes it was, as it was for many on this board. BUT it is not the only cause of MCS. Several here got hit either repeatedly or had a mega dose of manmade chemicals, which in turn triggered their MCS. I also know of a few people that have no idea why they came down with it. The reason for that condition is not set in concrete. Whether it is manmade or natural it is a severe " reaction " to a chemical. Sharon also developed a sensitivity to plastics, latex, etc. So now when they give her an IV they have to use a " real " needle. Your comments about narrowing it down to 5 things is in my opinion a shorter list. Mold/yeast almost the same thing. Formaldyhyde/pesticidies, both chemicals. MCS is normally a reaction to chemicals. Most people will have a slightly different reaction between a chemical hit and a mold hit. You just have to learn (and yes, this does take a bit of time and patience) to figure out which one you are reacting to. Sometimes you can get hit by both in a very short time, then it is harder to tell. I sincerely hope that your biopsy does not turn up cancer, but I do hope that it can lead you in the right direction. Guest guest
I think it can crescendo. I spent one night in a hotel room recently and reacted so badly to the smell of the sheets and the shower soap that I had to take antihistamines for 2 days before my histamines would calm down. I've stayed in many hotel rooms and this has never happened before. The list is getting longer of things I can't tolerate. mary.barnes@... wrote: Yes, I have the mold issue, along with almost all those other things you mention.
