I have a postpartum mommy with bells palsy. Doctor wants to put her on high dose

steroids. She is in a panic.

What are some viable alternative therapies?

A friend suggests acupuncture. Anything else?

Why does she need to be on anything? When my father had Bell's Palsy they said there was nothing they could do and it would just have to run it's course. They didn't give him one little thing for it. It seemed like he had it forever but it was probably under a year. Maybe even under 6 months. (It's been over ten years so I can't quite remember.) I wish her good luck, it's a difficult time for that to happen. Cheryl n,IBCLC, RLC To: Sent: Friday, August 3, 2012 12:32 PM Subject: Urgent help

When my husband was treated for Bells Palsy they gave him Prednisone & Valtrex.  Prednisone I wouldn't recommend for a breastfeeding mom, but Lactmed says Valtrex is safe.  It might help it run the course faster.  I can't imagine putting up with it for 6 months!  Wow.

I have read, while doing some research for myself after a deer tick bite, that there is a link between Bell's Palsy and Lyme disease.. for some this is their major presenting symptom. Ann- I am so sorry that happened to you. I can just imagine it and how it would feel. Stay strong- all you can do is say is what you think is true. Also, can you recommend to me reliable Lyme clinics and websites?Hugs,Sue To: Sent: Saturday, August
