Guest guest
Wiki: By inhibiting 5AR in the central nervous system, finasteride has been shown to diminish the biosynthesis of neurosteroids, which require 5AR function. Neurosteroids and neuroactive steroids play a role in memory enhancement, sedative, hypnotic, anesthetic, anxiolytic, antistress, sleep modulating, anticonvulsant, and antidepressant properties. It has therefore been suggested that alterations in neurosteroid levels explain some of the mental and sexual side-effects of finasteride. Certain antidepressant drugs such as fluoxetine and fluvoxamine which are generally thought to act primarily as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors have also been found to increase the levels of certain neurosteroids.[23][24] Based on these studies, it has been proposed that increased levels of neurosteroids induced by fluoxetine or fluvoxamine may significantly contribute to or even be the predominant mechanism of action of these antidepressant drugs. -------- Maybe PSSD is a lack of this neurosteroids ?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? > > > > > > > > > > I'd really like to know if anyone with PSSD has tried ECT (for whatever reason) and what was the effect on sexuality?!? > > > > > I wonder if shocking the brain (not that I recommend it) can sorta re-boot the system and get things going > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > >

Guest guest
Yes, I've been researching DHT (dihydrotestosterone) and libido, and DHT is more responsible for libido than testosterone (in men). 5-alpha reductase is what converts testosterone into DHT. "5-alpha reductases convert testosterone, the male sex hormone, into the more potent dihydrotestosterone (DHT)." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/5-alpha_reductase ------------------- http://www.musclechatroom.com/forum/showthread.php?14990-Creatine-raises-DHT http://www.musclechatroom.com/forum/showthread.php?16547-Tanked-sex-drive-from-preg....How-to-raise-DHT http://www.musclechatroom.com/forum/showthread.php?4433-DHT-gt-3a-3%CE%B1-Androstanediol-Glucuronide-%283%CE%B1-diol-G http://www.musclechatroom.com/forum/showthread.php?4634-Monitoring-DHT-metabolism-and-5-alpha-reductase-activity & p=57536#post57536 -------------- "DHT interacts somehow with neurotransmitters (which is not well understood) to generate libido." http://www.musclechatroom.com/forum/showthread.php?14807-SSri-s-and-testosterone-levels & p=109820#post109820 > > > >> > > > I'd really like to know if anyone with PSSD has tried ECT (for whatever reason) and what was the effect on sexuality?!?> > > > I wonder if shocking the brain (not that I recommend it) can sorta re-boot the system and get things going> > > >> > > > > > > > > > > >> >>
Guest guest
I'm thinking that the ssri's lowered our natural chemicals in our brains serotonin and dopamine. Supposedly dopamine recovers faster than serotonin in the brain. Our brains definitely have been altered, but I highly doubt that our problem is " too much serotonin " that doesn't make sense to me. Buspar helped me and has helped others, and Buspar raises serotonin and I think it blocks some dopamine. Why would taking this help people with PSSD? > > > > > > > > > > > > I'd really like to know if anyone with PSSD has tried ECT (for > > whatever reason) and what was the effect on sexuality?!? > > > > > > I wonder if shocking the brain (not that I recommend it) can > > sorta re-boot the system and get things going > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > >
Guest guest
Troublesome, Buspar is said to be both a dopamine agonist and antagonist. (I can't even try to understand that!)...BUT it has been shown in this study to increase dopamine levels 100%. http://biopsychiatry.com/busmech.htm It also aids oxytocin which together with increased dopamine probably helps some with PSSD. Guest guest
How many males suffering from PSSD can still obtain and erection and have sex.I am one dude who can get an good erection however it's taker longer than usual to obtain and i still have numbness which makes the erection go away, I can probably have sex ,mostly psychological pleasure because I have some libido''very low'' but still there. Guest guest
I have the same.I am able to have sex and get an erection in the face of a woman. Masturbating does not provide a good enough erection sometimes not even a reaction. Nor does it give pleasure. Noctual erections are soft or non. Spontanous erections are not there during the day.My libido is however gone. I do not have sexual fantasies, nor "wet dreams", nor physical lust for females. I am not even interested in porn movies or porn pictures.Verstuurd vanaf mijn iPadOp 22 jan. 2012 om 04:35 heeft Adam Ballerini het volgende geschreven: How many males suffering from PSSD can still obtain and erection and have sex.I am one dude who can get an good erection however it's taker longer than usual to obtain and i still have numbness which makes the erection go away, I can probably have sex ,mostly psychological pleasure because I have some libido''very low'' but still there.
