Guest guest
Hi Margie, & All, This Social Security boondoggle is just about as disabling as any severe disability! I think we need to have some kind of cyber workshop or chat room get together about getting it done for those who are caught up in the Social Spider web. I do have a lot of experience with managing the application & appeals process as an advocate and also as a Social Security victim. Not exactly sure about how to get this going. Don't want to make it too public; but I'm here if I can help & there are some simple strategies that work. But they usually do take time. Once in awhile someone just gets straight through & approved. A lot depends on who is reviewing your case. As far as surprise parties, I used to dislike surprises, but now I'll take whatever I can get. Thanks for the thought! Guest guest
To Margie - Please stay with us. I understand the pain, and frustration completely - as I'm sure most of us here do. The SSDI thing is more than frustrating, but it will come through - especially if your MD has kept very good records of how you are feeling each time you see him/her. Good documentation is very important. I first filed in Dec. 96. When I'd been denied the 2nd time, I contacted an atty. This was last Oct. (97). He suggested seeing a phychiatrist (as opposed to a phycologist), because the phychiatrist is also an MD. I did (since I'm paying him, right?). I read somewhere - not sure where right now - that SSDI is not only interested in your disability, but how you are handling your disability - hence the report from the phychiatrist is important. I also read on the " net " that SSDI looked favorably on reports from rheumotologist, and so my MD sent me to a very good one in Tacoma. He specializes in FMS, and confirmed my MD's diagnosis. Having these things in my records helped my case immensely, I'm sure. I was awarded SS the first of Dec., altho I didn't know it til the 7th of Jan., and received my first check in March - the retro hasn't come thru yet, but should any time now. I'm also an Washingtonian - Pierce Co. - Not so far from you. Take care of yourself, and God Bless you.
