It did help but it burnedthe inside of my mouth and gave me a horrible headache. If fact i thought my head was going to exploded. I still take thealbuterol but only once aday. My doctor just called in anotherinhaler prescription for me today, i dont know what it is, I'll find outwhen I pick it up. I just hope I do not get any allergic reactions tothis one and I will be able to take it.I am so happy to find this list and to gain some knowledge into thisdisease. Very scary these asthma attacks. Guest guest
Thanks Anneliese for the welcome, I'm looking forward to learning from all of you. I just got my second perscription it called Maxair. Can anyone please give me any feed back on it. It has the same side effects as Albutorel. Is this just an emergency inhaler or one that you can take everyday. I was hoping for an everyday one that last 12 hours, guess I will have to call the doctor again. He is a nice man, BUT does not talk much and give you any information. If anyone can give me some feedback on Maxair I would be very greatful. - melanie@... To err is human - to forgive canine. Guest guest
Max air is just an emergency inhaler. Ask your doctor about Advair. people take that twice a day. I take it, and I've heard many people in the group say they do too. It seems to work welll for a lot of people. I'm glad you came to this group. You will get a lot of help here, I know I have. Guest guest
Hi , I never used the maxair, but the key is rinsing your mouth out really well. That way you don't get any side effects in your mouth. I have been on the Advair disket for about six months now and I love it. It has made such a big difference. I also have albutrol inhaler which is a rescue inhaler. I am sure someone will tell you more about Maxair. Guest guest
Hi Anneliese, No one ever mentioned to me to rinse my mouth, that's probably why the albuterol burnt the inside of my mouth. I mentioned that to a friend and she told me to drink two glasses of water after I take it. Do you guys actually drink water after you take it, or do you just rinse. - melanie@... Guest guest
" Do you guys actually drink water after you take it, or do you just rinse. " I brush my teeth and tongue and gargle after using my inhalers (Azmacort, Serevent and Combivent (sp?)). When I had Albuterol I would just rinse. I do not like the taste of my current inhalers, so the brushing helps get rid of that taste. I do not remember the Albuterol tasting as poorly. A quick gargle and rinse of water should do just fine. If you do not do anything, you risk mouth and throat side effects. P.S. What kind of dog do you have? I have two greyhounds.

Guest guest
Did you get the 'Autohaler'? Maxair is a fast-acting bronchodilator, similar in effect to Albuterol. It isn't supposed to have quite the side effects of Albuterol. Maxair is the only inhaler that I'm aware of that comes in the 'Autohaler', which has a spring-loaded mechanism which releases the drug when you inhale through the mouth piece. Guest guest
Hi Will, Yes I got the Autohaler, I didn't know anything about it until I was reading the instructions. The Albuterol taste and smells horrible, it would actually trigger a headache for me, but it did see to help the press in my chest. The Maxair doesn't have a bad taste or smell, plus it does help me breath much better. I was suppose to take it 4 times today, but I only did two, starting off slow, just in case I get a bad reaction like with the Albuterol. The autohaler is kind of neat, but it seems like more came out of the Albuterol, the Maxair seems like its a smaller, gentler puff. Although I think this is one time I would prefer a bigger, not so gentle puff. - melanie@... To err is human - to forgive canine. Guest guest
I used to do all of that. Then I learned the correct way to take my inhalers and got a spacer. Once I did that, I rarily taste them. I still am sure to drink water since you need good oral health when using lots of them. Just a few months ago I was taking up to 20 puffs aday of various inhalers. I've gotten off of most of them now. I love Advair!! You can't use a spacer with it but you dont' generally taste it if you use it right. Good luck, Char kali_gh wrote: "Do you guys actually drink water after you take it, or do you just rinse."I brush my teeth and tongue and gargle after using my inhalers (Azmacort, Serevent and Combivent (sp?)).
