Guest guest
Its been a while since I last posted anything as I just dont seem to have time much anymore, what with Brad so ill and caring for our 8 kids so I thought I would update you all on his condition. As you may know he was diagnosed with hep c, cirrhosis of the liver nephritis and kidney failure a little over 3 years ago now. The liver specialist managed to clear the hep c using the Interfeon/Ribavirin treatment but his 3 other diseases have remained. He is not yet on dialysis as the kidney specialist is trying everything to treat the nephritis first. Brad has a paracentisis (?) every 2 weeks and they drain 10 or more litres every time and he now has encephalopathy (?) for which he takes 20ml of lactulose 3 times a day. What with all the medications he is on now, it wont be long before he rattles !! lol. I dont know how much longer he has with us, from everything I have read he should have been gone a long time ago. Your treatments and transplant waiting lists seem to be different over in America. Brad hasnt even been considered for any waiting lists yet, due to him having the hep c before, hopefully if its not to late that situation may change soon. Well thats about all for now, my best wishes to you all and my thoughts are with all those who have lost their loved ones recently. Tracey. Guest guest
Give him a big hug from all of us. Never give up hope. He seems to be a fighter and sometimes thats what it takes. I wish I had some info. on transplant logistics here in America but I took that option off the table not long after diagnosis. I'll bet a buck (pound) that someone around here can help. I do know here in the US they do have a strict criteria to be placed high on the list. Beyond that, I would be surmizing at best. I do send you my best. I wish you well and sincere hope you get the best. Guest guest
Hi Tracey, I don't think I have met you as I am relatively new to the group. It sounds like you really have your hands full! Brad is a walking miracle! I am so encouraged to know that he has been able to overcome so much and remain with you and your family. My prayers are with you all! God bless!
