Never fear ridicule - remember, they laughed at Galileo ;-) (although I am using the reverse argument - just because they laughed at Signor Galilei doesn't prove that you are a genius if they laugh at you! - in a letter I hope to have published in tomorrow's Oxford Times). Literally, Rueckbildung is back-formation, so you may well be right. I'll run it past a couple of colleagues on another German list, albeit not a medical one.
