Guest guest
Hi there, Is it possibile that as fa says that 'Most' women see the shadow as the negative Animus? Perhaps, there lies the problem of our Gender wars, If Most men see the shadow as the negative Anima. Or is this just putting the blame elsewhere.? It does seem like there are two Negatives here. Perhaps the Old Fool Jung had it all wrong, but he did say, and I quote,------ " The masculinity of the woman ( animus ) and the femininity ( anima ) of the man are inferior, and it is regrettable that the full value of their personalities should be contaminated by something that is less valuable. On the other hand, the shadow belongs to the wholeness of the personality; the strong man must somewhere be weak, somewhere the clever man must be stupid, otherwise he is too good to be true and falls back on pose & bluff. Is it not an old truth that women love the weakness of the strong man more than his strength, and the stupidity of the clever man more than his cleverness? " " Die Anima als Schicksalsproblem des Mannes " ( 1963 ) And he also wrote this, in respect to the differences in conditioning. " It is a woman's outstanding characteristic that she will do anything for the love of a man. But those women who can achieve something important for the love of a 'thing' are most exceptional, because this does not agree with their nature. Love for a thing is a man's perogative. But since masculine & feminine elements are united in our nature, a man can live in the feminine part of himself, and a woman can live in her masculine part. None the less the feminine element in man is only something in the background, as is the masculine element in woman. If one lives out the opposite sex in onself, one is living in one's own background, and one's real indivduality suffers. A man should live as a man and a woman as a woman. " ( " woman in Europe 1927 ) But then he, Jung, was only a man. ha! Regards S.C.
