Knowing this, I have had many occasions to remember moments of such exquisite

joy with my darling Polar Bear......I truly tried off and on to seize moments

together by stopping n just saying " Guess what! I'm happy! " n he would do the

same, n I wld send the joy consciously up to my Div Guest. It's hard to

explain, Phoebe, but those are the moments I have been allowed to keep, to go

deep into, and fill with gratitude for the privilege of having known, loved,

n been loved by such an extraordinary man. As the moments themselves were so

evanescent, somehow their memory fleshes them out with a new substance of

meaning. They are gone in time, but ever present in my heart, fresh as on the

first day.

Whatever we pour into the Golden Grail at the center of our being is for

keeps. It is a strange alchemy that turns the lead of mourning into the gold

of gratitude.

As i write, i can almost feel his hands on my shoulders n his cheek next to

mine.
