Guest guest
MaC, I don't think you sound indifferent at all! Yes I have mom's medical power of attorney. Dad has the other. So we are prepared, as best we can be I think. She did eat some toast this morning and drank a boost, so we might be turning the corner on this UTI, but we'll see. I don't know how her kidneys are doing..they are still producing urine and not unusually dark. She isn't going as often though. I'll call the doctor on Monday and see how things are. Her thyroid is really messed up as well and that can affect her fatigue levels. She starts another medicine on Monday for that. Never a dull moment! Pamela Re: Levoquin for UTI med mix Pamela, I know this may sound indifferent through a webpost/email etc. But it's with love. Do you have the necessary power of attorneys etc for your Mom? Reading your last post leaves me with the feeling that the kidney infection may be a precursor to something else. It's important that you are prepared for the unexpected. I am praying and holding on and crossing my fingers. But the lack of interest in water or food may not be a good sign. When my wife's kidney's failed she lost all interest in food and water. Guest guest
She ate this morning! So we are thankful for another day. She says she doesn't feel well though, but can't explain. I think the big antibiotic is wayyy strong, so maybe that would explain why she is feeling worse...UTI and all. Thanks for your prayers! Guest guest
That is good news then. Nutrition is important right now. Can I ask how the UTI was determined? A UTI can put stress on the kidneys and it's very important the kidneys stay healthy in a patient with cirrhosis and end stage liver disease. Guest guest
She was acting more confused, sort of like when her ammonia levels got higher.... and could hardly help us help her to the potty. She does a stand pivot sit at the bedside, but we were having to carry and move her legs. So we knew something was up. They did check CBC, Ammonia, TSH, T3Free, T4, urine & something else. And her urine was darker earlier in the day. No fever. Nutrition...well we aren't doing great there at all. Poached egg, toast, Boost, water, mandarine orange cup, jello, that is about all she'll eat. She does great for breakfast but barely anything for the rest of the day. Makes me think it might be time to tap her belly so she'd be more comfortable and maybe want to eat. When I ask her, she doesn't want it. But maybe she is just too confused or too exhausted to decide? Pamela Re: Levoquin for UTI med mix Pamela, I know this may sound indifferent through a webpost/email etc. But it's with love. Guest guest
Chief Little Eagle, Thank you for sharing. Mom continues to be nauseated and a bit confused. Big time weakness and allover discomfort. We'll know in a few days whether it is renal or caused by meds. God Bless, Pamela Re: Levaquin for UTI med mix Pamela, Not feeling well but unable to explain it was/is common with me. With my liver disease sometimes I was/am lost for words especially when trying to explain to a physician my symptoms. Also, for me, my symptoms would change sometimes literally one hour to the next. For me, sometimes a 2 hr. nap in the afternoon helped other days a 2 day nap didn't seem to help. The nausea was different. Nausea can be very acute if one has a bleed going on but can be chronic and nagging for other reasons...or both. Although, liver disease has a " characteristic chain of symptoms " from a general standpoint I would assume that no two cases mimick each other to the letter. That being said, at my own request I have decided against any transplant procedure. I think that limits my medications to a small pool. I can't speak from a medicine standpoint. With the exception of a beta blocker and a protonic I take very little medication. I did take some spirolactone early on and had some unpleasant side effects or rather complications with gynocomastia, and I had to sort of feel my way through an assortment of stomach meds until I found one that worked best with the least ammount of side effects. I don't take enough meds to comment one way or another. I wish I could be more helpful. Give all my best, Best of luck...
