Guest guest
Hempseed oil.....of course! Also combination of Tribulus terrestris and Ledbouriella (Shaposhnikova) divaricata seems to work stunningly well in some. Failing that try the 10 chinese herb eczema formula. No qualms with patients age either. Stuart Fitz
Guest guest
Hello All Wondered if anyone had any thoughts on treatment of itching of a two year old girl with extensive atopic eczema (since birth). We have been getting some improvements in eczema overall until nurse at GP's noticed a small spot on skin & immediately put her on antibiotics. Skin flared up again & is driving Katy (and her mother) crazy. Just getting the itching under control would help enormously at the moment. Have tried chickweed cream, chamomile cream, Chickweed with hypericum oil (at recommendation of another practitioner) nothing is doing much except good old oatmeal baths. Am considering marigold & chamomile bathing herbs. Internal Rx - Trifolium, Calendula 25%, Galium, Tarax. Any suggestions for calming the itching would be most appreciated. Yours in anticipation (and many thanks in advance)
Guest guest
My favourite external applications for itching are elderflower (very cooling) and also borage and plantain. chamomile is also nice, but I tend to avoid calendula as I used to find it too heating when I used to suffer from eczema myself . Urtica fol and viola tric. are nice internally. > > Reply-To: ukherbal-list > Date: Wed, 8 May 2002 18:09:10 +0100 > To: <ukherbal-list > > Subject: Re: Atopic eczema > > > Hello All > Wondered if anyone had any thoughts on treatment of itching of a two year > old girl with extensive atopic eczema (since birth). > We have been getting some improvements in eczema overall until nurse at GP's > noticed a small spot on skin & immediately put her on antibiotics. Guest guest
Dear It is an awful condition for a 2 yr old as you know. I think you have done what a herbalist would usually do but sometimes the condition can get worse with over-treatment. Oatmeal bath can be soothing but will dry the skin up afterwards thus increases itching. My suggestion will be nothing topically except a simple water based base-cream with no additives to stop the skin from drying and give very small doses of Tarax and Iris vers. Watch the diet, the usual no dairy etc. I presume is weaned and not having mothers milk. Regular baths but definitely no soaps. Any time that itching gets bad wash with water and rinse with water (coldish if possible) and apply the base cream. I hope this helps Mohi
Guest guest
I have had better results with Taraxacum officinalis when adding a little Thuja occidentalis. Guest guest
From: " Tassell <<itching of a two year old girl with extensive atopic eczema (since birth)>> Dear I think a recipe for fresh nettle juice ointment was posted on the list plus giving nettle juice internally. An eczema paste, from an article way back in herbal thymes, is Ulmus powder mixed with infusions of Matricaria and Calendula and distilled witch hazel. I imagine that hydosols of Matricaria (Chamomilla) etc would work here. Some types of eczema are simply a symptom of EFA deficiency. If eczema doesn't clear up with supplementation then it is likely to be the true atopic type. Caulophyllum inophylum is a healing and anti inflammatory fixed oil - could be used in cream/lotion. Aspartame can set off an eczema reaction. The best time to apply a cream is just after the bath while the skin is still damp.
